This should be in The Ring as a rant, but since there are only a few of us who play golf on this forum, I thought I'd rant about the lack of golf ettiquette here. I am rather new to the game of golf, I've only been playing for 3 1/2 years, but I am aware of most golf etiquette rules. I can't beLIEVE how many times my husband & I have been playing behind a foursome of well-dressed, seasoned players, who won't let us play through. We wait and wait on each hole, & they sometimes will even purposely waste time to infuriate us. Also, I see so many golfers driving through the native high grasses looking for balls in their carts. Yeesh, fellas....can't you read the signs? Ah, there....the vein in my neck is starting to subside. * * Can you tell I was playing golf today?

I don't know where you were playing, but some courses encourage foursomes and make them the have the "right a way" over pairs, etc. Most people are kind enough to let faster players play through, but you always get the JERKS that think they own the course and that burns my azzz to. I am a fairly fast golfer, one half practice swing and hit, so you can imagine that happens to me alot!

Yes, we are fast golfers, too. "Ready Golf" is our motto. My husband & I are pretty even players, so we are right there within a few feet of each other. We park the cart between us, then whomever gets to their ball first, swings away~ I've never heard of foursomes being given privilege over twosomes, but I can believe that in a more metropolitan area. We've had rangers chastise other golfers, who haven't let us play through, so that's one nice thing about being here on the prairie in Illinois.

Cheer up Rap, you could have had a day like this!
A nun is sitting with her Mother Superior chatting. "I used some horrible language this week and feel absolutely terrible about it," the nun said.
"When did you use this awful language?" the Mother Superior asks.
Answered the nun: "Well, I was golfing and hit this fabulous drive that looked like it was going to go 280 yards, but it struck a phone line hanging over the fairway and fell straight down to the ground only 100 yards from the tee."
"Is that when you cursed?"
"No, Mother Superior," says the nun. "After that, a squirrel ran out of the bushes and grabbed my ball in its mouth and began to run away."
"Is that when you swore?" asks the Mother Superior.
"Well, no," says the nun.
"As the squirrel was running, an eagle came down out of the sky, grabbed the squirrel in his talons and began to fly away!" "Is that when you swore?" asks the amazed elder nun.
"No, not yet. As the eagle carried the squirrel away in its claws, it flew near the green and the squirrel dropped my ball."
"Did you swear then?" asked Mother Superior, becoming impatient.
"No, because the ball fell on a big rock, bounced over the sand trap, rolled onto the green, and stopped about six inches from the hole."
The two nuns were silent for a moment.
Then Mother Superior sighed and said, "You missed the &!#&%#%! putt, didn't you?"

I tell what I hate on the golf course.
I hate when I am standing on the tee box and someone wants to stand behind me but in my peripheral vision as I start my back swing. They are far enough out of the way for me not to hit them but close enough for me to be distracted.
I also hate when I am on the green and someone walks through my put line or stands so they cast a shadow over the hole.
I also hate when you're on the last hole and someone says who ever loses this hole buys the HotDogs!!!

Oh and this one. The Drink Cart girl.
I hate when I am teeing off and look down the fairway and see coming toward me the drink girl. Sometimes she stops or will pull behind the tree but I have had them that just keep coming. I have at times said screw it and hit toward the cart path.
