NEW YORK — There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist."Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday. Another of her theories: The bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing." Keys' AK-47 jewelry came as a surprise to her mother, who is quoted as telling Blender: "She wears what? That doesn't sound like Alicia." Keys' publicist, Theola Borden, said Keys was on vacation and unavailable for comment. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,350916,00.html Tupac & Biggie were "great black leaders?" 'Ho-kay....

X, I can feel ya, because I do like the back rhythms of gangsta rap, yet it's all old school funk music - my first love!! But I'm not a fan of millionaire rappers, who perpetuate their love of the streets, when they're drinking Cristal...or Crystal (whichever spelling you prefer), and livin' the high life.
I have no idea why Alicia Keys has taken a stance in favor of the argument that "gansta rap" was thrust upon the poor Black community. It goes along the same thread that white society gave them AIDS, heroin and crack. It's totally absurd!

I don't think the government had anything to do with Gangsta rap, of which I am a fan.
It's just ridiculous that people always blame the government for anythnign bad that happens. Does the government screw up sometimes? Sure, are they some wicked entity that wants to bring about the destruction of all these people? Of course not.
Gangsta rap is a product of how people live, it's a direct result of poverty and angst.
End of story.
