I am not at all familiar with Glaus. Is this a good thing?

I am not at all familiar with Glaus. Is this a good thing? It's not a bad trade... I believe Glaus is a good defensive third baseman with some pop... I think he tends to stay healthier than Rolen has the past couple of years...

I do not want Rolen to stay with the anomosity between he and LaRussa...

It's not a great deal.
Glaus is only one year younger than Rolen, and although he does tend to stay healthier, his name was in the Mitchell report.
His defense is no where near what Rolens is, (but who is really?)
The only real benefit is that he'll provide protection for Albert in the lineup, but with this caveat
Our infiled looks like this: Pujols 1B Kennedy 2B Izturis SS Glaus 3B
With Miles, Ryan, & Spiezio as backups
With our suspect starting rotation, is it really worth fielding a suspect infield by making a deal just to make a deal??

No, it's not a "great" deal, but it isn't a bad deal... Yes, we give up a little on defense, but we get a little more pop at the plate. Glaus can actually hit a southpaw, something the Birds had trouble with last year... Personally, I'm tired of Rolen and LaRussa acting like immature junior highers. Time to move on... Rolen can't let it go and Tony has to do what is best for the team...

Apparently Glaus isn't as healthy as I thought.
In an interview on KFNS with Ramsey and Cusamano, a reporter that covers the Blue Jays said that Glaus has foot problems. He has had off-season surgery to try and correct it, but his range is "almost non-existant" and "if he's healthy he's ok, but if his foot hurts he is a huge liability on the field"
I agree that it sucks that they started bickering like old ladies at Bingo, but at best this trade would be a wash.

^^agreed...
It's a push at best, but in reality, I think the Cards came out short...

A deal just to make a deal......
It's a shame how childish grown men getting paid millions to play a game can act

Man all we need now is two or three more pitchers with elbow problems and we are set for next year. Oh wait we don't need that we have that. We need two or three decent pitchers that Dave Duncan and Tony and give elbow problems too.
No way on my team does Izturiz even sniff the starting spot at SS. I give it to Ryan until Izturiz can prove he can hit for average and be a productive lead off guy. Kennedy is a joke at second base. Our middle infield is in shambles. The hot corner is doomed due to the lack of range Glaus has and our outfield is going to be made up of a former pitcher who is on the Mitchel Report as a user, a left fielder who if daddy wasn't around would be still in the minors and a AAA player who at best should have been put in a deal to get a #1 pitcher. I sure hope number 5 can put his ego on the back burner and get used to playing for a losing team for a few years. The one feel sorry for the most is Molina. More talent then anyone on this team and is tauted as being a steal because of how cheap he is.

Oh yeah Glaus is also on the Mitchel Report. Maybe we should sign Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens too.

I like Chris Duncan tho, may need a bit more polishing but has the potential to be a great ball player

^^ Carpenter won't be back midseason. If he pitches this year, it won't be until August or September. Cards fans shouldn't even *hope* Carp will be a factor at all this year...
